The World vs. God

Why do we love the world so much? What does it give us? Why is it that every fiber of our body tells us that this depressing, disappointing, heartbreaking, and unfulfilling world is worth loving?

"Do not love the world or the things in the worldIf anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever." (1 John 2:15-17)
See the the Lord did not make the world for our satisfaction. He created the world for his glory for his honor and for his satisfaction. Creation was meant to bless God, not us. But in our love of the world, and love for our own desires we destroyed his creation.  See our sin, our love for our own earthy desires, it separates us from Christ. It destroys our harmony with God.  Only because of Christ death on the cross are we reunited with Christ. But being reunited doesn't stop sin it only forgives it. It doesn't stop our love for the world. Because we can never truly stop loving this world. This world is sin, and we are sinners, and we love sin.

Christ wants all of us, all the time. But he can have no part of sin, and we are sinners. So he sent his son to die for that sin. To take my place, and your place on the seat of death. Because he wanted our relationship. He wanted communion with us. He knew that without a perfect man, without a righteous man, a perfect sacrifice, no man could enter the Kingdom. He needed a man who could not love this world and its sin, but a man who could only love God.

We may not be able to stop all of our lusts for this world. We may struggle daily with our ideals.  We will fail in our attempts to love God more than the world. But Christ expect everything we have. He expects us to try as hard as an imperfect man or woman can. He expects, as sinful as we are, to always put Him first. Why? Because he deserves it! What person, place, or thing on this earth deserves more love than your creator and your savior?

"What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God?Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us? But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." (James 4:6-7)
Do not seek the pleasures of this world. Do not look to your ideals. Look to Christ. Look to your King, your creator, your savior.

Again keep me in your prayers. The Lord has shown me that my love for the things in this world has been outweighing my love for him. Pray that my love for him will grow, that it will be stronger than ever. Also pray for his strength and peace, that it will come upon me during my time of trial and tribulation.

You are loved, stay in the light.
