I finished up James and now I am starting on 1 Peter. So the general theme to my upcoming posts will mostly be about what I'm learning in 1 Peter.
Today I will be talking about what I learned from James 1:3-12. Hope it blesses you as much as it blessed me.
God is good! He loves us and he gave us hope and mercy when we did not deserve it. Which by doing so he gave us an undeserving inheritance called heaven.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.Peter Tells us to look at what Christ had done for us and take joy in it. Peter is also telling us that as much joy as we take in Christ when things are going good, we need to do the same thing when times are bad. Our faith will be tested and hard times may be ahead for you. But look at what God has given to you, look at what he has done for you.
6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. How great is our faith? Do need to see? Do you need to touch? or is it by Christ love and grace has he given you predestined outcome of your faith. See it is by faith that you are saved. You did not see Christ but you must trust in him. By your faith grace is given by faith Christ is indicated to you.
8 Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, 9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, 11 inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. We serve Christ so we can serve others. It has been revealed to us to be Christ like to work for the Holy Spirit so that the plans that are unknown to us will be fulfilled to bring glory to God.
12 It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.Friends our God is so good. How wonderful is it that he has revealed himself to such unworthy people. Take joy in his mercy take joy in his love. Hard times will always come and go but the love of the Lord is eternal.
Keep me in your prayers my friends, you are in mine. You are loved!
